Dakhla: Start of the 3rd edition of the AUSACO Policy Conference.

The third edition of the Policy Conference of The Coalition for Autonomy in the Sahara (AUSACO) opened this Wednesday in Dakhla, bringing together leading figures from the worlds of academia, diplomacy, and politics, alongside civil society representatives.

This two-day conference takes place within a new and unprecedented context, driven by the historic adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. This resolution enshrines the Autonomy Plan under Moroccan sovereignty as the sole political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

The Coalition for Autonomy in the Sahara (AUSACO) is pleased to announce the organization of its 3rd Policy Conference, to be held in Dakhla between 29 and 30 april 2026 under the theme:

“At the Crossroads of Growing International Recognition of Morocco’s Political and Economic Sovereignty over its Sahara and the Historic Adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797: Towards a Definitive Settlement of the Sahara Issue at the UN within the Exclusive Framework of Autonomy under Moroccan Sovereignty”

International conference in Dakhla sheds light on geopolitics of Moroccan Sahara

The first Policy Conference of the Coalition for Autonomy in the Sahara (AUSACO) took center stage on Thursday in Dakhla, focusing on the Moroccan Sahara’s geopolitics.

Eminent national and international figures gathered to engage in a comprehensive discussion on the ongoing regional dispute, considering recent developments at the United Nations and on the ground.

AUSACO Policy Conference in Dakhla on Geopolitical Horizon of Sahara Issue

“The Geopolitical Horizon of the Moroccan Sahara Issue” is the theme of the first Policy Conference of the Autonomy for the Sahara Coalition (AUSACO), which will be held on Thursday and Friday in Dakhla.

Prominent figures from AUSACO will attend the conference, as well as former prime ministers, foreign ministers, and ambassadors–along with academics, journalists, and lawyers from Africa, and Europe–in addition to members of parliament from the Sahara region, local elected officials, and representatives of civil society.

Contexto :

El 14 de marzo de 2022, el Presidente del Gobierno español, en una carta dirigida a Su Majestad el Rey Mohammed VI, afirmó que "España considera la Iniciativa de Autonomía marroquí, presentada en 2007, como la base más seria, realista y creíble para la resolución del contencioso regional sobre el Sáhara marroquí".
