AUSACO Policy Conference in Dakhla on Geopolitical Horizon of Sahara Issue
“The Geopolitical Horizon of the Moroccan Sahara Issue” is the theme of the first Policy Conference of the Autonomy for the Sahara Coalition (AUSACO), which will be held on Thursday and Friday in Dakhla.
Prominent figures from AUSACO will attend the conference, as well as former prime ministers, foreign ministers, and ambassadors–along with academics, journalists, and lawyers from Africa, and Europe–in addition to members of parliament from the Sahara region, local elected officials, and representatives of civil society.
The conference aims to initiate a fresh perspective on this regional dispute, considering its various characteristics in light of the latest developments at the United Nations, and with respect to several countries’ most updated stance on the matter. It will also take into account King Mohammed VI’s Atlantic Initiative, announced during the celebration of the 48th Green March on November 6, 2023.
Several debates and discussions are planned for this occasion, along with a focus on key projects under the New Development Model for the southern provinces.
AUSACO is an independent and autonomous organization which brings together over 3,000 politicians, diplomats, academics, journalists, lawyers, members of parliament, and civil society representatives across all continents.
The organization’s goal is to advocate for the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the sole and unique solution to definitively resolve the Sahara dispute.
