Growing International Support for Moroccanness of Sahara Reflects Outright Rejection of Separatist Tendencies- Mexican MP

The support shown to the Moroccanness of the Sahara by several influential UN member states also testifies to the seriousness and pre-eminence of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the only basis for ending this artificial conflict, the MP stated at a meeting held at the Moroccan Embassy in Mexico City on the sidelines of the World Social Forum (WSF).

Tapia, who chairs the Morocco-Mexico Parliamentary Friendship Group, noted that this international support for the autonomy initiative defeats the allegations and lies peddled by Algeria and its polisario puppet for more than four decades.

Recalling the Spanish, German, and American positions in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, the Mexican Green Party deputy stressed that Latin America's countries, especially Mexico, are called to support Morocco in its efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

"Only serious, credible and achievable initiatives can resolve conflicts," she said, adding that the Kingdom has demonstrated its firm commitment to ending the regional dispute over its Sahara, by presenting the autonomy initiative.

The MP also stressed the fact that most of Latin America's countries support the Moroccan initiative either through their governments or through their parliaments.

The meeting was an opportunity for the Moroccan delegation to the 15th edition of the WSF to exchange with Mexican MPs, human rights activists and trade unionists about the cooperation and exchange prospects between the two countries.
