Opening of OECS Consulate in Dakhla reflects strong relationship between Morocco & Eastern Caribbean States; confirms growing Support for Sahara’s Moroccanness

The opening of a consulate representing the six countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in Dakhla confirms the growing support for the Sahara’s Moroccanness, and reflects the strong relations between Morocco and this regional grouping.

 

The remarks were made at a joint news conference in Dakhla by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, following the inauguration Thursday in Dakhla of a consulate general of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Acts of recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Southern Provinces have grown exponentially over the last 2 years. It is emphasized by the opening of more than twenty Consulates general in the Moroccan cities of Laayoune and Dakhla. Consequently, these acts do not embody only these countries positions over the regional dispute but play a very important role in the economic development of the region.
