AUSACO publishes the first of a series of books on the issue of he Sahara

The Coalition for the Autonomy of the Sahara will publish, on the occasion of the Celebration of the Throne Day, an edited volume in English entitled "Rethinking the Sahara Dispute: History and Contemporary Perspectives".

This interdisciplinary book, prefaced by the former Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, Mr. Yehuda Lancry, and directed by the French essayist Jérôme Besnard, brings together eleven thematic contributions on all aspects of the Question of the Moroccan Sahara, with the aim of shedding factual light on this regional dispute.

This book proposes a new and prospective approach to the Sahara regional conflict through eleven thematic chapters.  It is based on an integrated and multidimensional approach that, for the first time, bridges between the points of view of historians, sociologists, geopolitics experts, diplomats, and strategic studies experts, each bringing his/her point of view to analyze in a holistic way the implications of the regional dispute and its impact on the Euro-Mediterranean, Atlantic and Sahel regions.

The various contributions will thus address the historical aspects of the dispute, the current dynamics, with an in-depth analysis of Algeria's responsibility, the humanitarian dimension of the dispute, and the security threats that its persistence generates, as well future prospects, in particular the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the only realistic, practicable, and enduring political solution based on compromise.

This book will thus provide a dispassionate and serene response to the propaganda fuelled by Algeria and the "polisario" on the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

This book will be the first in a series of books on the subject of the Moroccan Sahara entitled AUSACO Book Series.

AUSACO is an independent network composed of 3,000 lawyers, academics, journalists, and civil society actors committed to the defence of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the pre-eminence of the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative. The personalities whom are members of this network carry out advocacy through the publication of articles, books, and statements to the press as well as through the organization of conferences.
