A Portuguese Member of Parliament Underlines the Strategic Importance of Morocco for the European Union

In reaction to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on the 10th of June 2021, Portuguese MP Paulo Neves, also President of the Institute for Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean, reaffirmed in a post on social media that “Morocco is strategic for Europe”.

The Portuguese MP also pointed out that “Europe and Spain have maintained an excellent and beneficial relationship with Morocco, be it in the economy, in border control or in security”, calling for a deepening of this relationship.

Mr. Neves further warned against any action that might harm the partnership between Morocco and the European Union “for the good of all”.

Mr. Neves is a member of the Portuguese Social-Democratic Party and of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities, as well as the Committee on Economy of the Portuguese Parliament.
